Obligatory Introduction/Song

Hi. I'm a Sirius/Remus and Ron/Hermione shipper, mostly, though I appreciate other ships that don't interfere with my OTPs. And I love making soundtracks-- like, an insane amount. So this is a great place for me *does a little dance*, and I thought I'd start off on the right foot by posting my all-time favourite Remus/Sirius song.

Title: You May Be Right
Artist: Billy Joel
Pairing: Sirius/Remus

sample lyric:
You may be right,
I may be crazy,
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.

Friday night I crashed your party,
Saturday I said 'I'm sorry',
Sunday came and trashed me out again.
I was only having fun,
Wasn't hurting anyone,
And we all enjoyed the weekend for a change.

I've been stranded in the combat zone,
I walked through Bedford-Stuy alone,
Even drove my motorcycle in the rain.
And you told me not to drive,
But I made it home alive,
So you said that only proves that I'm insane.

You may be right,
I may be crazy,
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.
Turn out the light,
Don't try to save me.
You may be wrong, for all I know,
But you may be right.

Remember how I found you there,
Alone in your electric chair,
I told you dirty jokes until you smiled.
You were lonely for a man,
I said 'take me, as I am,
'Cause you might enjoy the madness for a while.'

Think of all the years you tried to
Find someone to satisfy you.
I may be as crazy as you say.
But if I'm crazy, then it's true,
That it's all because of you,
And you wouldn't want me any other way.

You may be right,
I may be crazy,
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.
It's too late to fight,
It's too late to change me.
You may be wrong, for all I know,
But you may be right.

You may be right,
I may be crazy,
But it just may be a lunatic you're looking for.
Turn out the light,
Don't try to save me.
You may be wrong, for all I know,
But you may be right.

You may be wrong, but you may be right,
You may be wrong, but you may be right.

Of course most of the lyrics apply to the recklessness (and sexiness...) of Sirius, but it goes a little deeper than that, and one day when the song came on the radio, it all crystalized in my mind. Of course, there's the motorcycle stanza, and Remus *would* say that it only proves Sirius is insane, but it's the chorus and next verse that make the song too perfect.

The line 'it just may be a lunatic you're looking for' jumped out at me, not because of Sirius' wild side, but because of *Remus*. I'm a word-nerd, and 'lunatic', of course, comes from 'luna', and originally referred to one who went mad at the full moon, or believed themselves to be a werewolf. Or were a werewolf. In the first chorus, the 'turn out the light/don't try to save me' is more a come-on, an 'enjoy the ride, don't worry about it' statement.

The 'Remember how I found you there/alone in your electric chair/I told you dirty jokes until you smiled'-- I imagine Sirius as being the one to bring Remus out of his shell, and perhaps, if you like the werewolves-mate-for-life mythology, being the only one to break through Remus' fear of starting a relationship that might end and leave him alone. As to the 'lonely for a man' etc.... well, that speaks for itself. The next stanza also follows the same line.

Second chorus-- there's a slight difference-- 'Too late to fight, too late to change me', also fits the characters well. Then the third chorus, and back to 'turn out the light, don't try to save me', which, after OotP, takes on a darker tone the second time around (for me). Anyway, thoughts/comments/arguments appreciated.
